Nothing Misleading at all, Jimmy -
In fact probably a confirmation that #492 and #483 really were 'going steady' in 1966
: "August 6, 1966 { a Saturday (?) }
"Chama Cumbres turn with engines 492 and 483 ...
" Depart Chama 9:05 AM with 31 empties
"Chama extra 492 east with helper engine 483 ...
" Depart Chama 2:05 PM with 32 empties
" Engine 483 depart Cumbres light, arrive Alamosa 7:50 PM
" Extra 492 depart Cumbres, arrive Alamosa 8:05 PM with 62 empties
THANK YOU again for your efforts to dig out and post all this arcane information!!
It will be interesting to see if the following is a semi-accurate guess, once you have had time to dig out the records. Joseph Hereford's photos on pages 67 & 68 of
'The Final Years' show #492 and #483 eastbound in Chama on August
26, and - if the dates on the notes with my negs & slides are correct - I caught them eastbound on August
15 at Gato and then making a Cumbres turn together on August
16, so it looks like they worked as a pair two out of every three cycles of the Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday runs on the 'main line', along with the Wednesday and Saturday runs to Farmington, that were the norm in 1965, '66, to some extent in '67,* and which dropped off significantly in 1968.**

p.s. Was the August 6, 1966, Cumbres turn the first one after the subsidence on the Farmington Branch that stalled operations for a few weeks that year?
* Per
'The Final Years', #492 was not used after 1966
; per Ernie's email (posted above) #497 was back in service in July, 1967, after a class-3 rebuild.
** In August '66 (if they ran all the way through each cycle and didn't turn on the wye in Chama), #492 & #483 could have run Alamosa-Durango on the 1st & 2nd, Durango-Chama on the 5th (why Friday?), A Cumbres turn and Chama-Alamosa on the 6th, laid off in Alamosa on the 8th & 9th, run Alamosa-Durango on the 11th & 12th, Durango-Chama on the 15th, Chama-Cumbres (per my photos) & Chama-Alamosa on the 16th, laid off in Alamosa on the 18th & 19th, done Alamosa-Durango on the 22nd & 23rd, and run Durango-Alamosa on the 25th & 26th (per Joe Hereford's photos).
