Okay..I have driven the road that does not go to Big Horn, but goes down into the canyon. My dad tried this in a 1969 Dodge Monaco in 1971 while we were out for the C&TS...Tore off the manifold on the crossing, and we had to stay in this tiny old motel in Antonito for 4 days waiting for the part from Denver to arrive in Alamosa.
At the time we could not make the dip in the road to Big Horn, and I did not try that in 1992 either in my minivan. I suppose that dip is still there, and I hear that is the worst part of the road to Big Horn.
So, Steve, you are saying you guys take the road that is marked as
closed(over the wye at Big Horn), to get to shots 3 and 4, correct!
I remember riding the Craft Trips in 1992, as we headed east there was a cloud of dust from that road between Big Horn and Whiplash down below us.
They had the direct shot! So ignore the Road Closed, or what?
