The perverbial picture being worth a thousand words:

Follow the road that parallels the tracks to the state line. Continue and bear to the right at the split in the road just as you clear the trees. Look for the road off to the right ...it's a "hard" right ...and that will take you to the crossing just west of MP297.That's as far as you can safely go unless you have a real 4WD vehicle with good ground clearance. Since the tracks are so close together you can easily walk to the mid level and look out across where the section house used to be.

To get to the lower loop cross the tracks at Big Horn and follow the road up the hill thru the cattle guard. Near the top of the hill look to the left. There are two ways to go: one will take you down into a dry wash/creek area but there's a lot of scrub brush and you run the risk of trashing the paint on your vehicle. The higher route is marked by a brown USFS stake ...look for it and you'll pick up the two track. This route is kinder to your vehicle and drops you off very close to the lower road crossing. You'll have to jump a barbed wire fence line if you want to get into the section house area in the lower loop. Not a problem ...there is a nice "loose" section that makes getting over the fence easy. The other route will bring you on the other side of that fence but you'll need to go through a "gate" on the way in.
