Hi, Brian -
Please don't misunderstand my reluctance to help promote a trip with #315 - she is a BEAUTIFUL machine, and Ashley, Dennis, Fred, George, Jim & Doris, Lynn, Randy, Tom et al did a remarkable job restoring her. But - including several trips on the C&TS in 2008 & 2009, and Railfest 2010 on the D&S - I have more than 900 digital photos of #315, half a dozen of which were good enough to make it into George's fabulous book, and three or four of which would be rather hard to capture again

The little trestle, above left, is now a corrugated-steel culvert, and setting out a car a Lava wasn't staged

A light frosting on Mt. Blanca, with low clouds in front, doesn't happen every day

SFAIK, we foamers haven't been allowed off the train anywhere near Lobato since September 14, 2009 - but maybe these could be replicated using that DJI Phantom Helicopter thingy
... (See [
ngdiscussion.net].)
OTOH, the only time I have been lucky enough to see #463 operate was way back in mid-September, 1996, when the weather was anything but optimal. I was able to get only just over a dozen 6x7 cm color slides of #463 in action, and in several of those she's buried as a mid-train helper behind road engine #497, so I hope you'll understand why my efforts to put something together for next year are focused on an early-thirties two-engine freight featuring #463.
Blackstone Models has been advertising a model of #463 with a green boiler jacket, and per Bill D.'s comments on [
ngdiscussion.net] their research is generally very meticulous, so - if it can be shown beyond reasonable doubt that #463 did indeed have a Moffat-Green jacket for at least a few months of her long career on the D&RGW - then that would be frosting on the cake insofar as I am concerned. But black or green, I'd like to see an authentic-as-possible freight featuring #463 next September, and am willing to put in a fair amount of time and money to help bring this about.
