Let's look at this more carefully.
18 months ago, I was co-driver for my younger daughter when she drove home to New England from her college in Indiana. Without too much trouble she was able to convince me to go by way of Dearborn MI. Why?? Because she loves the Henry Ford Museum / Greenfield Village complex. I made it a complete hit by buying a combo package that allowed us to use all of the rides. They have a railroad that has a name, and locomotives with other names on them, but once you are in the village, you simply ask for "the train". Likewise, the omnibus has a name on it, but you just ask for "the omnibus". The model-T Fords don't have names. All three rides go in circles, and run fairly frequently, so it doesn't matter much if you miss one, and you can't get on the wrong one, because that is all there is. We also saw a machine shop (also has a name, but I don't remember it), Noah Webster's house, the GT train station where Thomas Edison was tossed off the train for doing experiments in the baggage car, etc, etc. Later we went into the museum and saw various things, including a weinermobile, the chair Abe Lincoln was sitting in when he was shot, and the seat (in the car) John Kennedy was sitting in when he was shot. Everyone who was there that day, or any day, would group all his/her pictures together and tell friends "I went to Greenfield Village". Crossroads Village is nearby and is exactly the same thing; it has a railroad embedded in it, and people will identify it by its location, not by its name or by what is written on the tender.
On the other hand, I have been in the train station in Albany NY a number of times. I could get on #448 and go to Boston, or on #48 and go to NYC, or on #49 and go to Chicago, or on #69 and go to Montreal, etc. It is important to be able to tell one train from another.
Likewise, someone in Albuquerque has a choice between Amtrak and RailRunner trains, and someone in Antonito has a choice between CATS and SLRG.
Someone might go to Greenfield Village or Crossroads Village for various reasons, but s/he will normally go to Chama
only to ride the train, which is part of the problem. The NH&I can attract people who are in tourist-mecca New Hope for various reasons, but CATS has to attract people on its own. That is why they
need to develop a brand identification, as DSNG has, and since they have only limited amounts of cash, they need to make use of every available resource, including their locomotives. That is, they want people looking for "Cumbres and Toltec", because they aren't going to look for "Chama" or "Antonito".
