Gerald: This reminds me of the 1984 World's Fair Daylight trip. I was chasing it westbound through southern New Mexico. I stopped for a photo shoot and watched it whiz by at over 70 mph. Then I drove like crazy to try to catch up to it again. There I was on I-10 clocking better than 85 mph (back when the limit was 55 and the Klingons don't give you much variance). I look in the rear view mirror and here's one of New Mexico's finest roaring up on my bumper ("OH S--t!"). I was incredulously as he passes me at over 100 and continues up the highway. About 10 miles further down here's the trooper on the side of the road with his camera taking photos of 4449! Way Cool way to railfan!
