Rick,
I appreciate your response. Maybe fun isn't dead after all.
The worst "circus" I witnessed (and largely avoided) was 844's trip over the Royal Gorge Route. 4 lanes westbound (on a two-lane road), 0 lanes eastbound. How major accidents were avoided was beyond me. I hiked into Browns Canyon and photographed the train there and photographed it from the rim of Ruby Canyon the next day. I also photographed it near Wolcott when the big crowd stopped at Minturn and I was able to "leap-frog" them. What a day!
And some railroad people (read "NS" here?) say nobody cares about steam anymore. Pleeeeze!
