Back in 1994, when 1522 ran to Atlanta for the NRHS convention, a friend and I chased it from St. Louis. After the train cleared the Ozarks, there was a long stretch of straight, flat running with a highway right alongside.
Naturally, a pacing pack of about 25-30 cars develops on this two-lane road. They were pretty well-behaved, though, and so we saw no real justification for the police car that came flying up the other lane passing the group, lights and siren in use.
Shortly after it passed, an ambulance followed in the same manner. Alan and I figured that there was an accident up ahead, so we were pretty surprised when, a mile or so later, both the ambulance and the trooper were pulled over taking pictures of the 1522!
