These photos are at Whitney. The B&W is also from the Hayse Grigsby Col. with photo editing by Garrie Tufford. It also appears in some other collections. The train is east bound out of Whitney and is probably taken by the same photographer as the White Pine photo in the previous post. One source attributes these photos to Fred Jukes, but I am not sure if this is correct. There are a number a seemingly related photos beyond what I am posting here including a shot of the crews of both engines posing for the photographer. The color shots show about the same aspect, though the original shot may have been closer to the area where the willow brush is. The road is on the old ROW, with the road being raised more than the original rr road bed. Notice in the B&W photo that there is snow on the Elkhorn peaks on the right of the photo and what appears to me to be remants of melting snow along the ROW. The photo is likely Spring 1917.
