First, as usual, Dick is taking the analytical approach. Which I generally agree with. Where we disagree is that this kind of discussion needs to be going on at a high enough level at the Commission/Friends/Operator that whatever conclusions are reached can be acted upon with some expectation of something meaningful really happening. Debating it here doesn't accomplish a whole lot.
Wayne's contribution is to start a list of historic preservation "issues", to suggest maybe there is indeed a problem that needs attention. And the list can quickly get a whole lot longer. But again this is not the place to do the work. I will simply add that as somebody that saw the railroad during the 1960's, a LOT has changed. In my mind there is little question that there IS a "versimiltude" problem, and that problem is accelerating.
If the leadership of the Friends doesn't think there is a "versimilitude" problem, then it is unlikely anything will happen.
