The more interesting question is what are the Friends going to do about it. They are the "museum" arm of the railroad, the group charged with taking the lead in these kinds of issues and they have the resources to make something happen. Having been asked to serve on the "Interpretation Committee", and seen a year of total inaction, I get the sense that there just isn't much real interest in these "strategic" issues. They are in the plan, right at the top, but nothing happens. Probably because it is easier and more fun to go rebuild another wooden car from the ground up, which the Friends do probably better than anyone in the world.
