Glenbrook boiler

June 12, 2001 06:30PM
Hi Curtis,
You're right. However, Chris DeWitt, chief of restoration at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is going to rebuild the original Glenbrook boiler. He has already torn the boiler down, and has it in pieces. A new barrel has been rolled up and is awaiting riviting. That will go on to the original firebox and rear half of the boiler under the steam dome to the backhead. Chris has done a lot of repairs already to the old portions of the boiler he will reuse. The problem is that he is now in the middle of doing the McKeen, which has been a huge project, and the Glenbrook got put on the back burner.
Anyway, when the Glenbrook is completed, I too am looking forward to it and Eureka steaming together.
Talk to ya later!
