What is the $600,000 "emergency funding" for?"

Well Bobby, probably for emergencies. You know those unplanned for and potentially catastrophic events.
And you bring up a good point, $600,000 is far too little for emergency funding for the C&TS.
Case in point: The Sievern Valley Railway in England this year was affected by by the horrible rains that they had there. They had some washouts and track damage that totalled 1,000,000 pounds sterling. In American dollars, that's almost 2 million.
The C&TS is in slide and "gullywasher" prone country. I feel that the C&TS would be much better with a larger amount in an emergency fund, perhaps $2 million.
Since you claim to be such a high roller, a mere 2 mil. shouldn't be that much to sweat.
The money can be placed into a Money Market or some other quickly disposable, safe investment vehicle and the interest used to fund other projects.
Good point! I'm sure that the C&TS is looking forward to your $1.4 million dollar check to up their palry Emergency Funds toa comfortable level.
