Jeeze, I thought Bobby could, at least, read.

First, it's the Commission that is asking for the $600k, not the Friends.

And as for why, the Commission is asking for the funding "to help keep the shops open this winter and to insure no interruption of track work this year and next". This was quoted directly from the minutes of the Friends BoD meeting.
