My books are packed, so I cannot reference the image you refer to. However, I think you have the ends of the car mixed up. The brake cylinder 'points' to the 'B' end of the car where the brake wheel and retainer are. Traditionally, the end doors on box- and stock cars is on the 'A' end so as not to foul the brake appliances.

But, on the narrow gauge, never say never!
