I remember seeing the 476 as a first grader(1982) deep in the bowls of the animas canyon--my family camped out the day before we rode the train. I rememeber we hiked down to the river and went swimming in the river, and after about 20 minutes the 476 came into view gliding downgrade. The next day we rode the fist section pulled by the 476 it was one of the best experiences in my life and I was forever hooked on the narrow gauge.
