I don't think anyone meant to critize your experiment. Your submission was just the spark that started the discusssion. It is a subject that rages throughout many photographic groups.
Many traditional photographers rail about digital imaging and claim that only film is the true medium. As someone who has spent thousands of hours sniffing those noxious chemical fumes, I do not miss it much. You can do things with digital that film darkroom workers could only dream about. There are bound to be abuses, but there are so many advantages.
I recently did a trip to Utah and spent some time on Soldier Summit and around Helper on the Utah Railway. I had my darkroom with me on my laptop PC running in my lap while waiting for the next train. I downloaded images that night to the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club's web site manager. Never could do that with film.
