Steve Gilbert's point is well made. Thank you.
We live in an era where the age old truth that the camera never lie's is challenged.
With the introduction of digital photography and digital manipulation of photographic images is upon us. The time old adage that "To see, it to believe" is today, suspect...and with good cause.
How easily we cast away the 'truth' of what a lens produces and we see is the finished truth.
Today this truth is as abstract as a whisp of smoke, and we don't know what to believe.
The loss of this public perception of optical and image fact, is a terrible tradegy, recognised by few, who are ecstasic about the possibilities of digital image manipulation.
I truly fear we are in the prop-wash of confusion with regard to the validity of pictures. Truth of digital manipulation?
Underneath the fervor of digital imagery manipulation, some of us are in mouring over the loss of one of photography's greatest strengths.
How long will it be that the immortal work of the legendary W.H.Jackson, will be colorized...or otherwise manipulated.
This is the path we have set our sights upon...totally excited and oblivious to the perils of this ill advised journey.
