Hi Greg,
I understand what you replied, but my thoughts was that there are often many other good ideas that have not been offered by other readers as yet and get the ball rolling on what is the best plan to fight a fire. The thoughts about the coaling tower is a good start. Could a high pressure water line be put up to the roof of the tower? It is the most valuable icon on the line.
Note that my suggestion to split all the cars would only cost the time to do the car moving and a big number of wheel chocks. The cost of water cans spread about might need a budget line entry.
If some fire hoses could be laid through the yard it might save some time to only have to turn the water on when needed.
It would cost nothing to assign a Fire Supervisor or have some fire drills on the property.
Do you really think I should call the leaders and embarish them to have to reply that none of these things are in effect now. Be nicer to learn that all are in place and that it is me that is out of touch with my suggestions.
