Both are right. It is just words here but some of the people in the know or power to make changes, read things here or could hear of my suggestion. I am only giving a suggestion from the insight of years of being out there on the railroad.
I suggest the cars be spread apart in some kind of checker-board pattern all with wheels chocked for both directions (wind) but no hand brakes applied. If cars needed to be moved from a fire, the chock could be pulled and car rolled by people with ropes. Some ropes could be on the ground in readyness if needed to be used. A auto could pull a rope and move a empty ng car or cars if necessary. Also firefighting water cans could be ready to grab to use, if placed in tool boxes between the tracks, or in or on some cars.
Has the C&TS Railroad and employees ever had a Fire Alarm drill? A fire in the shop or engine house could also be a threat to the company.
Is there a supervisor assigned to review fire prevention, and will look to prevent problems?
