Re: Last Run of #498?

Hi, again -
Per Ernie's map in RGNG-TFY, p. 3, there are two curves between mp 286 and 288 where the RR appears to cross over a couple of creekbeds. I rode the train westbound in August, just a few weeks ago, and distinctly remember the small trestle - but I don't remember whether it was 286.76 or 287.76 painted on the abutment. Damn, it hurts to admit I'm getting senile.
When did 498 make its last trip to Durango? Was it the engine for the equipment clean-up train that I've heard rumors about? Other than 483 doing some movie work, there's nothing in Ernie's book about ANY trips between late August and the Natl. Park train on Nov. 24 and last run on Dec. 5 & 6. I had assumed 498 was one of the C&TS engines, sold to D&SN and moved to Durango via truck quite some time after the abandonment.
