This might have been the last eastbound of 498 but not its last run, cause it wound up in Durango at the end of 1968 and was left there eventually becoming property of the D&S. I was lucky enough to see it on its first run of 1968 from Durango to Chama. It returned to Durango the next day with loads, while we chased 483/493 eastbound. Tough choices, but a two engine train won-out going up a 4% grade!!!
Somewhere around I have the 1968 list of train moves that Earl gave me. I know all the moves have been documented for the last couple of years.
By the way where was your 498 picture taken?
