That is rediculous. They already mention on board the train "on your left you will see the partially reconstructed snow-shed", at one time all of the tracks in this area were covered by snow sheds". It also basically says the same thing in the tour guide.
Finding the foundations of the old structures at Cumbres is neat, but I think they need to start saving their pennies for a lot of lumber and reconstruct the damn sheds up there. Then they say "oh but it's too hard to maintain". Well, that's why they need to make it an annual thing where they send 5 people up there and replace maybe 2 or 3 boards. You keep that up for 15 years and you will have replaced the entire thing already. And if they coat the thing in protective sealants it'll last that much longer. Like fifty gallons of boiled linseed oil! Ewww!
