Bill, I think the subject of the Sheds came up in a seminar/presentation put on by the the NMSHPO in conjunction with a spring BOD meeting in ABQ years ago (late 1980's-early 1990's). The slide program they showed was full of obvious (to my uneducated eyes) compromises to historic fabric that was just peachy to them, while other nitpick things appalled them while the rest of us dumb RR types said "yeh, so what? It was better than tearing the thing down".
When it was suggested the shed rebuilding might be a cool idea, they looked at us wide eyed and said "oh NO! it would confuse the public about what is original and what is historic..."
