Horse TRADING has never been a capital offense! It's horse STEALING that is a capital offense. Along with cattle rustling and cutting bob-whar fences. Horse trading is a common and acceptable activity among horse owners.
Things we KNOW;
We KNOW The CHS owns the Georgetown Loop Railroad and park, along with a few pieces of historical railroad rolling stock.
We KNOW that GTL Inc. has moved all of their stuff off the loop property. Seen Pictures.
We KNOW that two new rider cars have shown up at Silver Plume. Seen more pictures.
We KNOW that several historic engines have been moved to facilities where they can be inspected and restored. Seen even more pictures.
We KNOW what the press releases have said, and we know what all the wags on this board have said.
We've HEARD that the CHS is asking around about a wide variety of equipment, both historical and practical that could be used to run this railroad.
What we DON'T KNOW is what is actually going to happen on the Georgetown loop this year, or next or the year after that.
This reminds me a lot of the discussions that took place when Black Bart was kicked out of the C&TS. All the dire predictions of doom and gloom. The railroad was going to be scarpped, the town of Chama was going to be developed and become prosperous instead of remaining the wonderful, backward, little town we all know and love.
None of that actually happened, even though so many insisted that it would.
I wonder what will actually happen this time.
Then again, maybe I just haven't waited long enough for the predictions to come true. After they didn't say the C&TS would fail that year, and it may yet be scrapped some day.
