Re: CHS agendas

Rod,
Nobody on this forum will accuse ME of being on the side of the CHS!!! I agree with you wholeheartedly that the current leadership of the CHS must be held accountable for everything that may (and probably will) go wrong up at the Loop! If Daniel and some others are getting tired of hearing our "whining" and "b*tching" well, okay I can understand that. It DOES start to wear on one's patience after a while BUT.....it still needs to be said!!
Now as to C&S#9, I think that this is actually a GOOD thing! Think of it this way; the CHS has been criminally negligent in their care (or more accurately LACK of care!) of #9! We all agree that #9 is an historical artifact and needs to be preserved. We also agree that #9 is totally unsuited for day to day continuous operations on the Loop and most of us would agree that much of the historical aspect of the engine would be lost with a modern boiler replacement.
Well, it seems to me that this particular "horse trade" with Breckenridge is just the ticket! The CHS pays for a "cosmetic" restoration and then trades it to Breckenridge which I'm sure will treat it FAR better than the CHS (this has the added benefit of getting it away from the clutches of those incompetent boobs!)
The #111 goes to the Loop and we then have a steam engine operating on the Loop! Look, we can moan and groan about the hypocracy involved but it really doesn't matter at this point because the issue is going to be one of safety far more than historical accuracy!
I'm still outraged but I have decided to "wait and see" what is to come. One thing I won't do is give the CHS a pass on this! This whole situation had FUBAR written all over it from the word go (what did you expect from politicians with their own agenda?)
