We used to stay at the Hotel Brunns in Lathen on the Rhiene-Emden line. Right next to the tracks and you could get a room overlooking the railroad to the south. Hard to sleep at night though with the building shaking from another 2-10-0 3-cylinder on an ore train, or maybe a doubleheader. Was there in March 1975 and got a dusting of snow. All the front numbers of the engines were away from the boiler heat and were white. Got a couple nice slides of 012 departure from Lathen this way. Was a fun time.
