Re: "A properly run railroad" ???

If the best arguement to be raised against me is concerning my handle, perhaps I shant use it here.
As for your annoyance with what you call my 'aspersions' of the Ashbys, that is essentially what what was suggested in this thread - puppet masters. Why are the looked at like some kind of gods in the tourist railroad industry? Well run railroad, so I have heard, but why is every solution involving them in some way? Let's keep in mind that the CRRM is non-profit as far as I know, would the Asbys really care enough to do the same things they were doing for FREE? Maybe in a perfect world, but I do not think so.
Concerning Railstar, after reading the article it sounds more like the bitter taste over the railroad has absolutly nothing to do with Railstar themselves. Most everyone here has been extremely unfair to Railstar, and we have not hit day 1. Who here will actually ride it though, sounds like everyone has pleged never to support them. So basically, everyone loses. We all know that the crrm is not going to take over. That is a pipe dream. Railstar and the CHS will struggle throguh a season or two before making any real money. Quite a few tourists wont care whats pulling the trains, although obviously the steam will boost interest by those who are not aware/do not care about the ongoing soap opera.
Steve, do not let my opinions bother you. I take the unpopular side of this arguement not to be troll, but I beleive in giving people a chance.
When it comes down to it, I just love railroads, we all have that in common.
