"It stands to reason that there would be a fight" (?!!) What planet are you from? After everything that has been posted here and everything that has been patiently explained (and bitterly complained about as well!) I would think that you "apologists" for the CHS would begin to see the light!
It also strikes me as characteristic of you people that you use monikers rather than your real names! (Not really a criticism.....just an observation!)
As to the idea of the CRRM administering the GLR, I would love to see the CRRM in charge...........as long as the Ashby's were partners with them! The CRRM does indeed have wonderful equipment and the staff is dedicated to the preservation of Colorado's railroad heritage but the underlying concern would remain! The Georgetown Loop needs an experienced operator that is knowledgeable with mountain railroads. In addition, the Ashby's have those Shays (which is something that I don't think Railstar will EVER be able to match!) as well as the Consolidation for regular runs.
Really, considering some of the other options this WOULD be a wonderful collaboration! Too bad it's only a pipe dream! I guarantee you that the State of Colorado will NEVER kick the CHS out of Loop ownership! Despite this singular instance the CHS has control over vast sums of money and has used it for a myriad of worthy causes!
Personally, I would rather see the Ashby's work with some other organization or city and start up another railroad so we can once again ride behind a properly run railroad! Still, it IS a nice dream.......
