This is just what I would figure but I could be wrong. Now every one knows that the #40 is an outside frame 2-8-0. The #12 is a inside frame 2-6-2. Isn't the outside frame locomotive going to be wider. Also wouldn't you think that a 2-8-0 would be bigger then a 2-8-0? Also if the 40 has more tractive effort it almost has to be a bigger engine. So with all this I don't think clearance would be an issue. I think it would be more of a issue of if the locomotive will make it up the grade or not with 5 cars. That isn't a lot of people cap. I am not saying anyone is wrong here so please don't take it that way I am just stating my opinion. I am on the side of the GLRinc. not CHS.
