The Leavenworth attorneys report was commissioned by concerned residents of Georgetown over actions of the CHS with local grant funds for the town. The report is available at the linked site. Click on the Leavenworth report link from the linked page. The document will show the current date but I believe this was sent to the State AG this past fall. In shows a pattern of questionable conduct of the CHS that has continued with regards to the RR and now with Breckenridge #111. On the linked site is also a report from the State Auditor in regards to CHS handling of the SHF which is an interesting read also.
For those of us not living in Georgetown you can get a sense of the poisoned atmosphere that the politicos had created for the GLRR. In fact, I wasn’t aware that both mayors of Georgetown and Silver Plume, Tom Bennhoff and Fred Lyssy had written Georgiana Contigluglia, President of the CHS in late April of 2004 suggesting a public takeover of the RR. As I personally surveyed merchants in town this fall I was amazed at the apathy and also hostility that this whole issue invoked. Part of me is feeling that perhaps Georgetown and Silver Plume are going to get their just reward in having the CHS screw up their local economy. And part of me says we owe it to the Ashby’s to hold these scoundrels in the CHS and in the local towns to the fire. Unfortunately for us all this not a made for TV drama and people have lost their jobs, homes and the community will be paying a steep price for recreating what had been built up by the GLRR over 30 + years. More people need to get involved and perhaps this drama can still have a happy ending.
