Something that I've noticed, that many of us forget, is that just because a particular operation did "such and such" that doesn't mean that they were using good judgement.
Every operation had/has it's degree of managerial competency and, for that matter, available resources. Every shop foreman wasn't the best in the business and every owner wasn't a financial whiz.
All operations had thier degree of competency and judgement otherwise they would have all survived. Lon Wall
