" Let's see.........we have a 4%+ grade mountain railroad that the previous operators (who have been conveniently ignored) ran with 0 accidents over 30 years. Now we have the very first thing produced by the "true" owners of the Loop which is a brochure chock full of typos! To pile on more insult to injury they then put up a website that is nothing more than a scan of said brochure complete with typos!"
One of the principles of ploice training is the "Three A's" .....
Accept what you was seeing to be what it is.
Adapt to meet the challenge.
Act .... In other words, take action!
This is a formula for quick thinking and reaction for positive results.
Now let's see ....
Accept the CHS (in THIS situation) for what it is (not what you WANT it to be!)
Adapt .... adapt you attitude / expectations to what you accept as being the situation at hand.
Act .... Is it a cat or an elephant? Do you expect it to purr or eat peanuts? Adjust your expectations and actions to reflect what is going on. In otherwords, deal with the reality at hand.
Does anyone really need this spelled out for them?
The goon squad won.
The railroad is stripped to the bare plant.
You can bitch all you please about mispellings and bad treatment. We all know what the CHS is in this scenario. Complaining about it is akin to complaining because you refuse to accept that your cat is in all reality an elephant and is really tearing up the furniture! C'mon! If the goal is to see a real steam railroad operating on the loop, the answer lies in wresting control of the property from the CHS as a whole OR seeing to it that interests representative of the community hold the reigns. Would it not be best if Ashby's owned the property they ran on? Pretty hard to yank the rug out from under your own feet, wouldn't you say?
Yeah, I know, ... this practical kind of thinking is just too hard to work with right?
Tell you what, ... all this energy spent focused on critiqueing every little movement of a known group of boobs might very well serve a productive end if focused on routing the boobs out of power. Accept that they are boobs, adapt your attitude to the most productive ends, and take appropriate action!
