"What's your inferred point? ... that Railstar and CHS should GUT the Silver Plume depot so they can sell more rubber tomahawks and postcards? The Georgetown Loop is not about dead-green-presidents ... or at least it shouldn't be ... "
To whom do you direct this question, ... railfans, or rubber hatchet-huckers like Behrens and Contigoogli-oogly (whatever her name is) ???
You and I (and a couple other people around this list) might not give a red rip about making dimes on the dollar. It is about the stink of coal and the hiss of steam. To that other contingent, it is about power windows and vacation time in Maui. This is a classic example of the old addage "Can't see the forest for the trees". Railfans see the loop as "trains" and all attendant details. That other element sees the loop, trains, etc. as a tools to do something else with. I have heard it said that "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand". Not directing that at you personally, Steve. I just think this is a fine case of different groups looking at an object, one sees a kitty cat, the other sees an elephant. We just want to see trains run, ..... they would put in a Walmart if they thought it would make money! Sad.
