Depart Antonito 12:25 PM
Sublette 35 minutes water
Cumbres 50 minutes pick up, switch helper out and retainers, 30 minutes repair air hose
Extra 492 west depart Cumbres light time not shown ahead of extra 493 west
Arrive Chama 6:55 PM
Extra 493 west depart Cumbres time not shown
Arrive Chama 7:45 PM with 49 loads 1 empty

If I read this correctly they went down the 4% grade from Cumbres to Chama with about 50 cars. This sounds
risky to me. Was there a limit on how many cars could be taken down this grade? Did they ever divide a train
between the road and helpler engines with each locomotive taking one half of the train down grade to Chama?
