Photography of the WP&Y is challenging since the highway is not close to the railway except in a few spots, and there are only so many pix you can take hanging out your coach window. Some years ago there were several fan trips that solved that problem rather nicely, but I have not heard of anything like that recently. I suspect the reasons for that are capacity issues and high costs, it is a VERY busy railroad and nothing in Alaska is cheap. Both Trains Unlimited and Farrail Tours ran charters (not to mention the famous rotary trip that Kevin Madore documented so well). I seem to remember the fan trips were in the era when John Bush was working for the White Pass and was probably the management advocate for the fans. Here are a few pix from those great opportunities to get out on the line.
