No use crying over spilt milk, so they say -
So I just mopped it up with a minor revision,
and another as of 07/16/21 — see last paragraph, below.
But I have almost cried over the @#$%& numeral five! Like the two, it has a tear (rhymes with 'beer', not 'bear'), but I was unable to find a good photo of a D&RG '5' other than the one of SG loco 524, and CR BT Dispr already did a superb job of cleaning that up for Dave Taylor's use. So, just for the hell of it, I put together a simpler '5' roughly based on #524's, but with elements from the '2' that I did yesterday, Coifman's
'Clinchfield Narrow' Railroad Roman plus a little bit of his
'NorthWestern' Railroad Roman. Here she is, slightly fattened, at full size 4096 × 5460 for Dave to upload if he wants (the NGDF will display her at 1024 wide)
:
. . . and as with the '4' and the '2' previously, here's a 1/8 size copy so you don't have to scroll to see it all

Sorry 'bout not gettin' 'er done with this'n 'til t'day, but me 'n' muh dawgs wuz HONGRY las' nite at 9:30 p.m. when I wuz done with them two jist above, so – better late than nivver, h'ar she is

Note than I agree with CR BT Dispr that, no matter which style of numbers is decided upon – or even if they stay with the squished RR Roman font – the spacing between the numbers should be adjusted to about 4½", as shown in the revised second panel above. Also, after sitting back and taking another look, IMHO the upper right curve of the '2' and the lower right curve of the '5' aren't
quite thick enough – they should probably match the thickness of the vertical neck of the '4' at their thickest points. Those are pretty easy fixes that I'll take care of after I take Bosco and Otis for their afternoon walk.
{Added @ 6:30 p.m. PDT on 07/15} It turned out that the thickest part of the '2' was, by sheer coincidence, exactly the same width as the vertical neck of the '4' (within 3 or 4 pixels, anyway, on a figure that's 3,600+ pixels wide), so I didn't bother to change the earlier drawing, or the previous post, at all. But the lower curve of the '5' was too skinny – by about 112 pixels – so I added about 87 pixels to the outside of the curve to bring it right to the 18" right margin, and thickened the curve toward the inside by the remaining 25 pixels. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I really do think it looks better.
{Added @ 4:20 p.m. PDT on 07/16} Per suggestion by CR the wave in the flag / hairdo at the top of the '5' has been increased somewhat, and since presumably great minds apparently do sometimes think alike I have succumbed to the temptation to put a slight dish – á lá the "nose" of the '4' – into the angle at the bottom of the "neck" of the '5'.
All three images on this post have been updated accordingly.
