315/425 was born in 1895. Spent her first 17 years on the F&CC RR as #3 the "ELKTON". F&CC went belly up in 1912. #3 sat unsold until 1917 when the D&RG bought her. Shopped her and assigned the # 425 to her. When the D&RG, and the RGW merged and became the D&RGW they renumbered the fleet and 425 was re-numbered to 315. She worked the entire NG system, including a couple of leases to the RGS until 1949, where she was retired after spending her last several years as the Durango yard switcher. She was displayed in a park in Durango until brought back to life in 2007 by the Durango Railroad Historical Socity.

For the VIH, we are backdating her to her look when she first came to the D&RG in 1917. Different headlight, Wooden Pilot, D.& R.G. on the cab, and large numbers on the tender.


And personally I would love to take her back to her days on the F&CC as the ELKTON, but that would require a green boiler jacket.......... and we all know what happens with that......
