As others have mentioned, its been inoperative. Very nice to hear about changes but still a ways to go
Here in Chama, other than the gap between the sale of the rr to the states, it hasn't stopped. Dec 31 this year marks 140 years that coal fired steam has been going up Cumbres pass. It was only an appx dozen years earlier that the 1st transcontinental rr was completed. Both Chama and Durango are unique that coal fired steam has been going that long uninterrupted. Both have survived two world wars, coming and going of empires, etc. But due to gross miss management by the US Forest service that's so severe it's criminal, we need diesels, oil??
