You are confusing me now James. First you say it was in Cinders and Smoke as "Beaver Creek Canyon", and now you say they changed it in 1982, 1983, so which was what year. Whatever the name of the place its one of my favorite on the whole line. It has several vantage points that give it a slightly different look. You can get the Shalona Lake in the background to the left in some cases.
The little Bridge John refers it is the one we walked across to get the video shot in my clip. Right before you cross the bridge there is a pathway on the left if you are walking from Rockwood. Thats where you go to get a wider view and see it snaking around a bit more. I was last there in 1994 when we shot for the America By Rail video. At the time I walked across the tracks in Rockwood, and there was a little path that went back through the woods and got you to a bunch of big boulders. I climbed up on one and set-up on top for a nice view. In 2014 when I was back there the road goes to some residents now. My brother was there one year and ran into the owner, and asked if it was okay to shoot there accessing through his road. He said okay. When my brother was done, he saw the guy again on his way out. He asked the guy if he could shoot there again during his stay in the area, and the guy said NO! So the only way to get to the higher shot is down the RR and the path after the bridge, which is a little more tricky of a climb I think. Progress keeps deleting photo spots!!!
