Before we left Crows Foot, I spotted a wire hanging from a tree:
I think this is a telephone wire. It could be from the MSP days, or also could be from the Signal Peak Fire Lookout...
We drove up the Signal Peak line for about 1 mile. On the way up, I spotted what looked like a spur below the right of way. I parked and managed to work my way through the brush down to the spur's grade. Here's a view looking back Southwest towards the main branch:
You can see the brush is nearly impenetrable in this direction.
Here's a view looking Northeast up the spur from the same location:
The depression in the middle is the spur.
A few feet further on and the area opened up a little more:
Looks like we are approaching a little bit of rock work...
Here's a view about 50 feet further out:
The large rock has tumbled down onto the grade. You can get an impression of the condition of 90+ year old railroad grades that were not converted to roads...
