The spur on the left extended about 500 feet to a log loading area. At the end of the spur were some choker cables:
And a piece of rail with a vertical hole drilled into it:
Not sure what this was used for.
Reaching the end of the spur, I cut back towards the main grade and crossed the other spur which turns out to be a siding that re-joins the main grade about 300 feet beyond the start of the spurs.
Quite noticeable in places on this hike were the large tree stumps left behind from logging:
About 1/4 mile further the railroad grade ended when it entered a clearing in the forest. Here's my wife just approaching the end of the line:
The line looks like it split into two short spurs where it ended. One is followed by today's dirt road. The other went into the trees to the left of the picture for about 200 feet then stopped. There was very little in the way of logging debris here.
