I had to wade through a forest of burnt Manzanita bushes to follow the grade:
We are looking back down the spur towards the main grade which is about 1000 feet away.
The spur curved around until it was headed south then stopped on a platform of rocks:
I retraced my steps and went back to the main grade. This is what the junction looked like:
The spur branch off to the right where the thick brush is located while the main grade curved to the left.
We returned to my truck ending a pleasant 2.5 hour hike in the woods. Here's a couple of artifacts I saw that don't want to give away the location:
What appears to be a log car spring that was sitting by itself on a rock below the right of way. Probably had a minor wreck at this location.
A stub switch bridle. This was away from the right of way and is not visible while standing on the grade. I only stumbled into it when I heeded the call of nature and found it behind a tree.
Too be continued with a map of the spur tomorrow...
