The total length of the branch was about 2.5 miles. At this point we began to retrace our path. The Western Dogwoods were in bloom:

The grade looks wide enough here to have had a siding.
As we were hiking out I noticed a glint in the forest off to the side of the grade and went to investigate. I found a recent bottle, but also discovered another spur heading off to the east:
I began following this grade through a thick stand of trees until it became more visible:
That's a full length of rail resting on the grade.
At this point the grade was heading due east uphill and we're about 600 feet from the main branch.
