In 1920, Baldwin built a series of Pacifics numbered 190-195. Baldwin and Montreal added numbers 196 and 197 in 1926, and Alco added 198 and 199 in 1929. All were renumbered in the 590 series on takeover by Canadian National, and sported the colourful red and yellow CNR smokebox number plates. Due to their lighter weight they were the prefered power of the branchline runs.
