Regarding green boiler jackets - I know this is a source of debate amongst regular service locomotives, but I do have a question/comment regarding RMRR club excursions.
I will assume that since RMRR club specifically requested that their excursion locomotive to be painted green, that meant it was black in regular service, otherwise they would not have made the request. But it sounds to me like on at least 3, if not 4 trips they specifically requested a green boiler jacket. Why would they request this? Did someone in the club have an affinity for green, or were the club members trying to recreate the boiler colors they saw a decade or more prior? Of course they could have liked the green they saw on D&RGW SG locomotives, and wanted to see it on NG too...
My point: You can probably read a little into the very fact that the RMRR club requested green boiler jackets for their excursions in the late 1940s...

PS - 340 above is green, but I would not call it "dark olive green"
