Remember, 340 was used for an excursion through the Black Canyon in '48. Lots of 'different' paintwork often preceded those trips - 489's green boiler for a RMRRC trip in '51('49?), green boiler and lots of silver paint on the RMRRC's 1947 trip with the 20, as just a couple of examples.
