Exposure cool is something I need relearn on these digital cameras, so your post is quite relevant to me. I started photography with a Mamia-Sekor, a few lenses and teleconverters and Tri-X film, as that was the only film I could afford to buy and get developed. Everything was manual back then, of course.
Then I got spoiled with all the automatic features of digitals. Most of my stuff was either family photos, detail photos of models for magazines or prototypes for detail photo books, or industrial sure for engineering use.
But after spending an afternoon and morning in Chama, I am not satisfied with many of the photos due to less-than-perfect exposure control. So it's finally time for me to drop the automatic control and go back to basics.
So thanks for your info!
