A great source for learning is Creative Live. I just completed their course on the Nikon D850. I knew a lot of it already as I have owned the D800 and D810 and they have similar controls, but there was a lot new to learn.

No one knows it all. I graduated from the Air Force photo school in Denver in 1959 and was an Air Force photographer/photojournalist for 22 years. Was an instructor in the Air Force photo school for 7 years and Chief of Photography for the Air Force in Europe for 3 years. After the Air Force, I was a technical publications and training developer and project manager in HP's digital imaging group for 20+ years. I am writing all this to say that no matter how many years experience you have, there is always more to learn. I read photo books, magazines, web sites, etc. constantly and learn something almost every day. Even if it were possible to know it all, it would then become boring.
You do not have to have the best cameras in the world to make good railroad photographs, the greatest generation of railroad photographers did not use the same type of equipment or film yet produced historic treasures.
