I should have been more clear about the K-37's, Chris -
But my main point was to disabuse the poster's notion that the K-36's were similar to the K-37's in their use of old boilers on new frames & running gear, rather than a ground-up collaboration of the D&RGW with Baldwin's design engineers (as was standard practice in the good old days of locos being designed – or at least existing designs being extensively modified – to suit the whims of the purchasing railroad's mechanical department.)
